DHI Hair Transplant
Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) is a specialized hair transplant technique that offers a minimally invasive approach to hair restoration.
Here are the typical steps involved in a DHI hair transplant
Hairline Design: Your surgeon will work with you to design a natural-looking hairline that suits your facial features and preferences. This design is crucial for achieving a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing result.
Donor Area Preparation: You will be prepared for the procedure by trimming your hair in the donor area, typically the back or sides of your scalp. This is where healthy hair follicles will be extracted from.
Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to numb both the donor and recipient areas to ensure you are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure.
Extraction of Hair Follicles: In DHI, a specialized tool called a Choi pen or DHI implanter is used. It has a hollow needle that creates a tiny hole in the scalp and simultaneously implants the extracted graft into that hole. The surgeon or a trained technician extracts individual hair follicles from the donor area using a micro-punch tool.
Follicle Sorting and Graft Preparation: The extracted hair follicles are carefully examined and sorted to select the healthiest and most suitable grafts for transplantation. This step ensures that only the best grafts are used.
Recipient Site Creation and Implantation: The Choi pen or DHI implanter is used to create tiny recipient sites in the balding or thinning areas of the scalp. Simultaneously, the grafts are implanted directly into these recipient sites. This eliminates the need to create separate incisions and then place grafts, as in traditional FUE methods.
Final Hairline Refinement: After the initial implantation, the surgeon may perform additional refinements to the hairline to ensure that it looks natural and aesthetically pleasing.
Post-operative Care: You will receive instructions for post-operative care, including how to clean and protect the transplanted area. Medications to prevent infection and promote healing may also be prescribed.
